Release notes

What's new

Everything we have shipped to empiri, newest first.

October 9, 2026
Surveys built through the API, a built-in font, and editable links
- Build a whole survey through the API — or let an AI assistant build it for you: one call accepts a complete survey with its pages, questions, and logic. API keys carry a new “surveys:write” permission for it.
- Atkinson Hyperlegible Next is built into layouts as a ready-to-use font — a highly legible typeface you can pick without uploading anything.
- Change the ending of a survey's public link yourself. If the survey is already collecting answers, you are told exactly what the rename breaks before you confirm it.
- “Empiri default” is always available as a survey's branding, and creating a new layout no longer changes which layout your existing surveys use.
- Fixed: uploading a logo for a layout — and respondents uploading files — failed with a generic error.
- Fixed: the AI assistant connection returned an empty list of tools for every API key.

Layouts with your own fonts, drag & drop, and smarter questions
- Layouts: create multiple brandings — each with its own colors, logo, and an uploaded font — and choose one per survey.
- Duplicate a whole survey from the survey list — pages, questions, and logic included.
- Carry-forward choices: a follow-up question can offer exactly the options a respondent selected earlier.
- Download your survey's QR code as PNG or SVG, right next to the survey link — and publishing now takes you straight to distribution.
- Reorder questions by drag & drop — the whole card follows your cursor — and reorder pages the same way in the page bar.
- Add a page between two existing pages, delete a page from its header, and see “Page N of M” while you scroll.
- Line breaks in question texts and info blocks now render for respondents, and the editor shows the formatting shortcuts (bold, italic, underline).
- Multiple choice: the “Select between X and Y” hint can be hidden or replaced with your own wording, and respondents can no longer tick more than the maximum.
- Fixed: the QR code shown when setting up two-factor authentication could not be scanned.
August 26, 2026
A rebuilt survey builder, self-service workspaces, and richer questions
- Create your own workspace in seconds — the free plan no longer needs an invitation.
- Rebuilt survey builder: all pages in one view, with preview cards you switch into edit mode only when you want to change something.
- Move questions from one page to another.
- Dropdown is now a display option of single choice instead of a separate question type.
- New "no answer" option for choice questions, so respondents can decline without leaving the question blank.
- Text formatting — bold, italic and underline — in questions and answer options.
- Info text blocks to explain a section without asking a question.
- Hints below a question to guide respondents.
- A new dashboard gives platform administrators an overview of usage.
- Many fixes to survey logic and overall stability.

Build a whole survey through the API — or let an AI assistant build it for you: one call accepts a complete survey with its pages, questions, and logic. API keys carry a new “surveys:write” permission for it.

Atkinson Hyperlegible Next is built into layouts as a ready-to-use font — a highly legible typeface you can pick without uploading anything.

Fixed: uploading a logo for a layout — and respondents uploading files — failed with a generic error.
